CBSE material for open book exam sent to schools

The Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) has made available material for the much talked about Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) exam scheduled to be held next year.

Moving a step further towards implementing the highly anticipated Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA), commonly known as open book exams, the Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the course material for the exam to be held next year in March.

The board came up with a comprehensive syllabus comprising of both text and pictorial content whereupon the new, much talked about exam will be based.

The CBSE will conduct the Open Book Exam for the students of Std IX and XI as a part of their final examination/. For Std IX, the materials for all of the main subjects including English, Hindi, Science, Social Science and Mathematics were released. Similarly, the board also released course material for Std XI (Biology, Geography and Economics).

The first edition of the OTBA will be confined to only the aforementioned subjects, however CBSE plans to incorporate new subjects into the exam with time.

Reports are that, CBSE will be providing the text material for both Std IX and XI within an unspecified time frame. It’s worth mentioning here that unlike most regular exams, students who appear in the OTBA will be allowed to refer to the text as well as pictorial content during the exam-hours.

Dismissing the skepticism expressed by a section of media and experts, the CBSE has clarified that the OTBA is designed in a way that it will never cause any adverse effect on regular exams and how they are conducted.

The board, in a written statement, urged that all teachers responsible for smooth functioning of the OTBA read and comprehend the core concept associated with the exam (including its objective and modus operandi)

“They (teachers) should assign this text material to their students in groups for further understanding, analysis and discussion. It is reiterated here that the main objective of introducing OTBA is to relieve the students from the burden of mugging up of content and provide opportunities in acquiring skills of information processing, comprehension, analysis and inference,” read the statement issued by CBSE.

Next Common Written Exam for PO Recruitment in October 2013

The next Common Written Exam (CWE) for Probationary Officer Recruitment is scheduled for in October 2013. IBPS has come out with a exam notification for recruitment of Probationary Officers and Management Trainees in 2014-2014 .

The application process for this exam will start on July 22 and the last date for applying online is August 12, 2013.

IBPS 2013 Probationary Officer and MT aspirants are informed that the new recruitment will take into consideration , the result of the Common Written Exam , which will be held in October 2013. The Number of People to be recruited in 2014-2015 is approx 50,000.

Anna University announces Distance Education Admissions 2013

Anna University Chennai has come out with an advertisement for admission to Distance Education Courses for MBA, MCA and M.Sc courses for the session 2013-2014

Admission to these courses will be done through distance education entrance test (DEET) conducted by Anna University

The last date for applying is 2nd July 2013 and the date for Distance Education Entrance Test is July 28, 2013

Application form can also be obtained in person from the following Study Centres located outside Chennai on payment of Rs 650/- in cash

Application Procedure for IBPS Common Written Exam 2012 (Clerical)

IBPS has recently come out with a notification for Common Written Exam CWE Clerk II 2012  for recruitment in 19 Public Sector Banks

Candidates can apply online only from 15th October, 2012 to 05th November, 2012 and no other mode of application will be accepted

Before applying online, candidates should scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph and signature adhere to the required specifications.

Application Fee can be paid either online or offline through the designated CBS branches

Minimum Graduation for Bank Clerk Jobs through CWE-Clerk-II 2012

The IBPS CWE Clerk II notification specifies that now to Apply for CWE Exam 2012 , you need a  Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the central Govt. and Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory

Till last your IBPS and other PSUs were recruiting clerks with  the following qualification Requirements. “A pass with 60% marks in the aggregate in Matriculation/SSC (old pattern)/SSLC/10th std. Examination of 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent. For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EXSM candidates a pass in the aggregate in Matriculation/SSC (old pattern)/SSLC/10th std. Examination of 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent”

The other Changes IBPS has done in   CWE Clerk Exam 2012 , is this  CWE Clerk II Test will be an Online Test and there will be common interviews for recruitment in 19 PSUs. These PSU Banks used to conduct their own Interviews earlier

National Board of Examination (NBE) announces NEET PG 2013 Dates

National Board of Examinations,  a National Body entrusted with the task of conducting Post Graduate Medical Examination  will be conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) for Postgraduate medical courses (MD, MS, PG Diploma) in the country. The setting up of a National Body to conduct post graduate medical examination was intended to provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the objective for which post graduate courses were started in medical institutions.

NEET PG will  Computer Based Test (CBT) from 23rd November, 2012 to 06th December, 2012 at test centres in 33 cities

NMIMS admission test for 2013 Admissions dates announced

VKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), India’s leading School of Business Management and consistently ranked among the top 10 B-schools in the country, has opened registrations for its online entrance test NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) 2013 for the admissions to Full Time MBA & PGDM for next academic year 2013. NMAT is one of the largest online tests in India, which has been conducted successfully in CBT mode for three years by now, and last year more than 56000 students registered in NMAT 2012. Students of foreign countries and Persons of Indian Origin (POI) cannot register in NMAT however their GMAT score shall be considered for admission. The registrations for NMAT-2013 are open from 11th July 2012 and the students, after their formal registrations in NMAT 2013, shall be able to take online test in a window period of almost one and a half month from 11th October to 19th December 2012 with a choice of two retakes.

Vijaya Bank has come out with a Recruitment Notification of Probationary Assistant Managers   on the Common Written Exam (CWE) for Bank Probationary Officer Scores,

The advertisement says  – ” Vijaya Bank invites applications (on-line only) from Young and Dynamic candidates who have qualified in the common written examination (CWE)-PO/MT– conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection IBPS in 2011-12 and holding a valid score card issued by IBPS, for recruitment for the posts of Probationary Assistant Manager (JMG-S-I) in Officers Cadre”

The Application Process started yesterday I.E. May 16, 2012 and the last date for applying online is 2nd June 2012.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting the NDA Entrance Exam (II) 2012 on 19th August, 2012 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 130th course, and for the 92nd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from July, 2013

Last date for submitting Application Form is June 4th 2012

The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be 355 (195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 55 for Indian Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme)

Who can apply ?

Candidates with full time B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engg.) can only apply.

Candidates who have passed out in 2011 or passing out in 2012 are only eligible to apply. Therefore, candidates who have passed out in 2010 or earlier are  not eligible to apply

Since the qualifying cut off marks is 65%, candidates with marks less than 65% are not eligible to apply.

UPSC IPS 2012 Limited Competitive Exam Notice out
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to hold the first limited competitive examination (LCE)   May 20 along with civil
services preliminary examination.

Defence officers of the rank of major and captain and police officers of the deputy superintendent of police rank will be eligible to sit the LCE.

They should have put in at least five years of service at the rank and not have turned 35, according to notifications issued by UPSC and the department of personnel and training.

Every eligible officer is allowed two attempts and those selected will be on probation for two years. Monday’s announcement completes the process to hold the special examination initiated nearly two years
