The IIT JEE Alternatives – AIEEE, BITSAT, CETs, VITEEE

The IIT JEE Alternatives – AIEEE, BITSAT, CETs, VITEEE

There is no doubt that competition for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exams (IIT-JEE) is tough and it is a difficult engineering entrance exam to clear.

Don’t lose heart if you think you won’t be able to clear IIT-JEE. Students who appear for IIT-JEE also attempt a number of other engineering exams held at the regional level. These exams open avenues to both national and regional level engineering colleges

Exams like MHT-CET open up opportunities into regional engineering colleges. Whereas Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) enables you a chance to go international with their campus in Dubai apart from Goa and Rajasthan.

With over four lakh students competing for 7,000 odd seats in IITs across the country, the IIT-JEE exam is tough to crack. Hence students are on a look out for other engineering entrance exams conducted by other institutes.

Students who have studied the combination of Physics, Chemistry and Math Subjects at 10+2 level often wish to become an Engineer. Before opting for this line they must be aware of certain factors such as -their interest, potentialities, awareness, creativity, talent and in-depth Knowledge of Physics and Math subjects in particular. Engineering Sciences breaks up in to many branches. Employment options as an Engineer depends on the branch of study. Some of the branches are: Aeronautical, Agricultural, Ceramic, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical Power, Electronics, Engineering Physics, Information Technology/Science, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Mining. Naval, Textile etc. These courses are of 4 year duration. Students can look forward to an exciting and rewarding career in the fields of construction, design, management, manufacture, research or teaching.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at 7 Locations are among the best ranked Engineering Institutes in India. These institutes admit candidates through Joint Entrance Examinations on All-India basis with no domiciliary restrictions. The Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) administered jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and IT-BHU and ISM is held usually in 1st week of May at a large number of centers throughout India for admission to the Engineering courses only. Foreign nationals are not eligible to write JEE.

National Institute of Technology ( at 17 Locations) are the next choice for Engineering Aspirants. Admission to these Institutes are done through All India Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE) and students are selected on basis of merit. The AIEEE Tests are also conducted in the month of May-June every year. There are many Engineering Institutes and Universities in India who admit students based on their AIEEE ranking.

Apart from the above, there are many Institutes/State Universities which conduct their own Engineering Entrance Examinations. Some of them are Birla Institute – BITSAT, Karnataka Common Entrance Test (Karnataka CET), Kerala (KEAM), EAMCET, AICET, GCET, Punjab CET, W. Bengal JEE, Bihar CET, UP CEE , COMEDK.

Engineering – the most sought after career option in India

Engineering is the most preferred post school (after 10 plus 2) career option in India today. It is evident from the fact that, the engineering entrance examination coaching market in India amounts to a staggering sum of Rs 10,000 crore every year. An ASSOCHAM report estimates that this can fund 30 to 40 new IITs. There are basically four kinds of engineering institutions in India: private-unaided, private- aided by Govt, State Govt aided and the ones under Universities.

Why most opt for Engineering  –Wide range of career possibilities

It can range from Design to IT to Marine to Aviation to Space Technology to Instrumentation to anything else one can think of. >> Read Cmplete article >>  Career in Enginering
