The notification for civil services preliminary examination 2017 has been released by the Union Public Service Commission on its official website. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 18, 2017.

Candidates can register for UPSC civil services examination 2017 on the official website of UPSC before the last date March 17, 2017.

Candidates who are graduates in any stream and between 21 to 32 years of age are eligible to apply for the examination.

UPSC holds the civil services examination to select eligible candidates for filling 980 administrative vacancies in All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.

The selection process consists of two stages – (1) Preliminary examination which consist of objective type questions and (2) main examination which consist of written test and interview.

UPSC will release the e-admission certificates three weeks before the examination on its official website. Candidates and login on the website and download the e-admission certificate for the examination.

The All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) happens to be India’s most important medical entrance examination for undergraduate medical programs because it allows aspiring candidates the chance to secure a seat in some the country’s best medical colleges. Like the past few years, CBSE will once again assume the responsibility of administering the exam with transparency and flawlessly. The board has already made available the details of the AIMPT 2015 and here’s a brief overview of what you should know before getting started with the application process. CBSE has advised aspiring candidates to carefully go through the information bulletin available for download on the official AIPMT website. Online submission of forms can also be done by visiting the same website  Also, after the online application form is submitted, the candidates are strictly advised to retain at least three print outs of the confirmation page of online application. Apart from that, the candidates should also retain scanned copies of their photographs. The email ID and mobile number used in the application form should be candidate’s own because the CBSE will be sending important information and updates regarding the exam by SMS and email only. All candidates in the age group of 17 to 25 years (as of December 31, 2015) will be eligible to sit in the exam. The upper age limit, however, is relaxed by five years for candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Physical Handicapped categories. Students from Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for the 15 per cent all India quota. All candidates must be either Indian citizen, or Overseas Citizen of Indian (OCI). To be eligible for admission on the basis of score received in the AIPMT, the candidate must have passed his or her 12th (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio Technology. Those appearing in their 12th (or equivalent) can also sit in the examination, but they will have to furnish the details of their performance in the exam within a pre-specified period. AIPMT 2015 will be based on one paper comprising 180 multiple choice objective type questions. Equal weightage will be given to Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each candidate will be provided with a machine generated question paper and he/she will have to select the correct answers from the list of available options using a ball pen. Candidates are allowed to choose either English or Hindi as their preferred language. Those who want to take the test in English will receive the test booklet in English only. On the other hand, those who choose Hindi will be given the test booklet in both English and Hindi. Admit cards for the exam will be issued online through the AIPMT website from April 1, 2015. CBSE has already made it clear that it won’t be sending physical copies of the admit card by post. Also, the board won’t issue duplicate copies of candidates’ admit cards at the exam center under any circumstance. Candidates are required submitting three of their preferred exam centers while submitting the application form. While, efforts will be made to allot a center in one of the places selected by the candidate, CBSE reserves the right to allot a different center outside candidate’s personal choices. The exam will be held on May 3, 2015 from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm. The schedule announced by the board will remain unchanged even if a public holiday is declared on the given date. The questions asked in the exam will be based on the common syllabus recommended by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The results are likely to be announced on June 5, 2015. The score cards will be made available for download on the official AIPMT website. The OMR answer sheets will be made available on the AIPMT website on any three days between May 20, 2015 to May 25, 2015. According to the notification released, the institute is offering admission to the following programs: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), DM/ M.Ch. Master of Hospital Administration (MHA), M.Sc/ M.Sc MLT courses, and MDS/ House Job (OHS)

Anybody with a MBBS or Bachelor’s degree in Medical from a institute/university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) can apply.

The application fee for MD/MS/MHA programs is INR 1000/ for General Category candidates and INR 800/ for those belonging to SC/ST categories. For DM/M.Ch programs, the application fee is INR 1000/ for all candidates.

All application forms must be filled-up online. After filling the online application form, candidates  are required to get the bank challan and then deposit the application fee in any State Bank of India (SBI) branch.  They will also require downloading and taking a print out of the properly filled application form and then paste a photograph on it as per instructions given. They will also have to sign the application form before sending it to “Professor In-Charge, Academic Section, PGIMER, Sector – 12, Chandigarh – 160012″. The application form must be accompanied by the challan and other relevant certificates.

 

CBSE Class X and XII Board Exam Schedule released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates of the board exam for classes X and XII, thus ending all rumors and speculations about the exams being advanced.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates of the Class X and XII board exams, thus ending all rumors and speculations about both exams being advanced.

 CBSE confirmed on Wednesday that it intends to stick to the same schedule as in the previous years.

The exams for both the classes will start from March 1. While Class X boards will be over by March 19, the Class XII examination will continue till April 17. This, according to the notification issued by the Board, will be applicable to all CBSE affiliated schools in India and abroad.

Apparently, no major changes have been made to the exam schedule compared to the 2013 boards.

Prior to this announcement, rumors and speculations were rife in Gulf countries including Qatar about the possibility of the examinations being advanced in the awake of the Indian parliamentary elections that will be held in the coming April or May. After CBSE denied all these rumors, many students from Gulf-based CBSE affiliated schools commented online that they were finally relieved knowing that the schedules won’t change.

However, some Class XII students complained that they could certainly use longer gaps between the main subjects such as, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry.

“If we had a few more days in between chemistry, biology and mathematics, it would have been fantastic. All the major science subjects are completed by April 20,” said a student of an Indian school in Doha, Gulf Times reports.

Approximately 226,000 students across the Gulf countries registered for the CBSE Board Exam as compared to 217,000 students last year.

 The increase in number of students appearing in the boards, according to experts, resulted from more schools joining the CBSE bandwagon.

CBSE’s new test method for evaluating ‘strength’ of students

The first ever Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA)  also called the CBSE Open Book Exam will be administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) next year in March. More commonly referred to as the open book exam, this new method of assessment was termed by the Board as a feasible way to “cater to the varied abilities of individual strength of learners”, in addition to incorporating theoretical and analytical skills that drastically moves away from the memorization approach.

However, the teachers in Bangalore-based CBSE schools are of the opinion that the move lacks in clarity when it comes to the mode of assessment as well as the type of teaching strategies that would eventually be needed to accomplish the objective of developing a thorough evaluation process.

According to the circular issued to the heads of institutes affiliated to the Board, the new mode of assessment would be an integral part of the session-ending exam and comprises of 10 marks. Students will also be granted additional half-an-hour to attempt the OTBA question.

CBSE has already made available study materials in the form of diagram, case studies, pictures, cartoons etc. All questions in the exam will be subjective, open-ended or creative.

Meanwhile, J. Anantha Padamanabhan, principal, Kendriya Vidalaya, M.G. Railway Colony  said that the new assessment method demands a drastic change in the conventional way of teaching.

“Teachers need to be trained to make students think analytically. This is not a mere fact-finding or information-gathering exercise. The OTBA aims to develop an analytical line of thinking among students,” he noted. 

Because the themes are much broader, many teachers are of the opinion that there are a number of grey areas about how they are supposed to train the students.

“The CBSE has introduced several new programmes, from Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation to OTBA; they are introducing these concepts without providing any clarity. When our teachers themselves are unsure of how the assessment would be, how can we prepare for it?” said a class XI student while talking to The Hindu.

However, CBSE is arranging workshops in order to train teachers about the various aspects associated with OTBA.

ENAT is of 2.30 hours’ duration and comprises 240 multiple choice questions which are objective type. The medium examination is English. The distribution of questions is usually as follows:

Physics: 60 questions, Chemistry: 60 questions, Mathematics: 80 questions, English and General Aptitude: 40 questions

Online Test Centres: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ernakulam, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Manipal, Mangalore, Mumbai and Pune.

The online test is held during a specified period between April and May every year. The candidates can select the test schedule according to their choice.

Application forms are available from specified branches of State Bank of India. Candidates can apply either under General or NRI category. Those submitting applications under both categories cannot be considered for admission.

CBSE schools start preparation for March 2014 open-book exam

Schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have started preparing their students and teachers for the first ever Open Book Exam to be held next year.

The Open Test Based Assessment (OTBA), commonly referred to as the open book exam, will be held in March 2014 for students of class IX and XI.

This happens to be the first ever time in CBSE’s history when students are being provided with special text material for an exam. Unlike the rote learning approach, the OTBA will be exclusively based on these special study materials.

The primary objective of the open book exam, according to CBSE, is to evaluate students’ ability to think out of the box as well as to test their aptitude for handling situational awareness.

In its debut year, OTBA will comprise of only four subjects: Mathematics, Hindi, English and Social Science. It is designed to be a key part of the second summative assessment for class IX and the annual exam for class XI (10% weight age).

The board has already made available all study materials including articles, case studies, graphics, and so on in order to ensure that both students and teachers get enough time to prepare themselves for the exam.

“Initially, there was a lot of confusion regarding OTBA even among teachers. Many of us thought it would actually be an open-book test where students could take a book inside the exam hall to look up answers,” says Shruti Ralhan, a social science teacher in a South Delhi school, India Today reports

“However, our school held an orientation programme which made it clear that students will actually get questions from the text already disclosed to them,” Ralhan added.

GPAT 2014 Goes Online – To be a Computer based Test

 All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body overseeing technical education in India, announced earlier this year that they were making the National Level Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)  entirely computer-based.

The GPAT, which happens to be a national level entrance examination, is held to accommodate the selection process for admission to M.Pharm programs in various institutions across the country

The GPAT 2014, according to AICTE notifications, will be held in 57 cities across the country.

 It is worth mentioning that AICTE has been successfully conducting the online Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission into PG management programs on a pan India scale. In fact, it is their success with the online CMAT that first persuaded the council to turn the GPAT into an online test.

 

In order to make sure that GPAT 2014 is executed flawlessly, the AICTE has directed the respective state secretaries dealing with technical education to inform all concerned States and Jurisdiction agencies about the revamped pattern of the examination.

 

The State Governments, under the new system, are required to register online free of charge for accessing scores as well as detailed merit list of qualified students.

 

AICTE claims that the decision to turn GPAT into a computer-based entrance exam brings along with it a multitude of positive outcomes, including:

 

·         The online entrance test will allow students to select their preferred exam center (read: city) from a list of 57 designated locations across the country.

·         Candidates are also allowed to select their preferred date of appearing in the exam (the forthcoming GPAT will be held from Feb 25 to Feb 27, 2014)

·         All allotment will be made on a first come first served basis. However, the final allotment will be subject to the number of available slots in a particular city,

·         The entire process will carve in the way for unprecedented transparency and accountability.

The next Common Written Exam (CWE) for Probationary Officer Recruitment is scheduled for in October 2013. IBPS has come out with a exam notification for recruitment of Probationary Officers and Management Trainees in 2014-2014 .

The application process for this exam will start on July 22 and the last date for applying online is August 12, 2013.

IBPS has recently come out with a notification for Common Written Exam CWE Clerk II 2012  for recruitment in 19 Public Sector Banks

Candidates can apply online only from 15th October, 2012 to 05th November, 2012 and no other mode of application will be accepted

Before applying online, candidates should scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph and signature adhere to the required specifications.

Application Fee can be paid either online or offline through the designated CBS branches
