Bachelor’s degree programmes in business administration/ business studies/ management studies are called by various names by the different universities. Hence, you are likely to come across BBA, BBS, BMS courses, all of which are more or less the same thing.

Normally, there is an objective-type entrance test for admission to BBA/ BBS/ BMS courses which evaluates English language, quantitative aptitude and reasoning skills. However, the basic focus would be to seek admission into BBA BBS/ BMS courses offered by a government recognized university. There is really no ranking or assessment of colleges for such programmes, but every university would have its share of prominent colleges which attract the cream of students, and such colleges are usually rated among the best.

OBC Quota in Educational Institutes – Landmark Judgment by Supreme Court

In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the legislation providing 27% quota for other backward castes (OBCs) in centrally funded educational institutions, including IITs and IIMs.

The economically well off, also known as the “creamy layer” from amongst the OBCs, however, will remain out of the quota’s ambit. A review of the quota’s continuation would have to be done every five years, the apex court said.

Only 1.6 lakh students sit for CBSE AIPMT 2008

As against about two lakh candidates in 2007, only about 1.6 lakh students appeared for the CBSE AIPMT 2008 , conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on Sunday.

Puducherry goes the Tamilnadu way – abolishes CET for Professional Courses

The Govt. of  Puducherry scrapped the  Common Entrance Test (CET) for students seeking admission to professional courses with immediate effect.
